    About Us

    Mr. Rowald has extensive experience in all phases of intellectual property practice, including patent and trademark prosecution, litigation, licensing and general counseling. Although Mr. Rowald's practice focuses on litigation related to patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets and general intellectual property matters, he is also involved in the procurement of patents, primarily in the technical areas of chemistry, chemical processes and mechanical systems.

    Mr. Rowald has been practicing intellectual property law since 1989, joining the firm after serving as managing partner of Vaden, Eickenroht & Thompson, leading that firm through two mergers before changing firms to head the IP practice of a national firm. He has now chosen to return to the smaller firm environment and founded the Law Offices of Kent A. Rowald, P.C..

    Mr. Rowald has tried cases in Federal District courts in Texas, Virginia, Minnesota, California, Oklahoma, New York, Illinois, Florida, and the Court of Claims, and has argued cases before the Third, Fifth and Federal Circuits, and was counsel in a case argued to the United States Supreme Court. He has also tried cases in several Texas State district courts and argued cases before Texas State Appellate courts. He has further coordinated related cases in the U.S., Canada, China, Japan, Germany, the U.K., France, Spain, Taiwan and Norway.

    His practice includes representing international and domestic corporations, as well as individuals, in a myriad of fields such as: medical equipment and devices; "oil patch" equipment and devices; restaurants; air conditioning and heating equipment; book, music and movie rights; publicity and privacy rights; chemicals and chemical processing; sports equipment; and computer software, among others.
